Xinjiang Electric Power Gets On the Fast Track

During the "12th Five-Year" period, thousands of kilometers of 750 kV power grid will built in Xinjiang to connect the major water, fire, power transmission capacity, to build a stronger, more secure and reliable internal grid. Regarding external grid, three UHV DC transmission projects including the ± 800 kV Hami South - Zhengzhou, Hami North - Chongqing, the ± 1100 kV Huaidong - Sichuan, will also start building, construction of 750 kilovolt Xinjiang and northwest networking Corridor project, so as to build a section of the "electric highway" gateway to the Mainland from Xinjiang.

After the Spring Festival, Xinjiang Electric Power Constructions, both the 750 kV power grid construction and the UHV Xinjiang power delivery project are fully started.

Xinjiang has rich reserves of coal, wind and hydro resources, coal reserves is of 2.19 trillion tons, accounting for 40.5 percent of the national coal reserves. The nine wind areas rich in wind energy, make sure of the total reserves of 886 million kilowatts of wind energy resources in Xinjiang, the technology could make sure of the development of 120 million kilowatts, ranking the second across the country.

It is said that the coal price is about 118 yuan / ton in the Hami area, while in the Barkol coal district the price could be only sixty - seventy yuan / ton; If the sales price is of 0.4 yuan per kilowatt-hour, one ton of coal can generate 3000 kWh of electricity which amounts to 1200 yuan. Comparatively, the economic benefits of selling the electricity is obviously far greater than simply selling coal.
