Gansu Province in China Has Begun to Impose Grassland Restoration Fee On Wind Power Enterprises

It is learned from the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Department of Gansu Province on the 27th that in order to strengthen the conservation of grasslands and maintaining regional grassland ecological security, Gansu is to impose grassland vegetation restoration fee on the wind power companies starting from this year, including all the wind power construction companies in Jiuquan area.

According to reports, in recent years, due to the construction of 10 million kilowatt wind power base in Jiuquan City, power companies were eager to invest in Jiuquan wind power constructions unprecedentedly, wind power projects became highly competitive and took up a large area of grassland. In Jiuquan City, the destruction of grassland vegetation by the construction of wind power is very serious.

It is said that considering the one-time infrastructure investment is large for the wind power company, the government will implement preferential policies for the grassland vegetation restoration fee on wind power companies, the standard is 300 yuan per mu (normal standard of 2000-3000 yuan per mu) charge. The construction area of wind power construction in 2010-2015 is expected to be about 39 million mu in Jiuquan City, the collection of the grassland vegetation restoration fee is about 1.1 billion yuan.
