Guangzhou Environmental Protection Bureau posted a notice on their
website yesterday, pointing out that "Food waste management pilot scheme
in Guangzhou City"(hereinafter referred to as scheme) will be put into
effect on January 18 this year, a trial period of one year. The scheme
will strictly carry out the "single bill management", which means that
the waste production, collection, transportation, disposal enterprises
must fill out the bill content, and keep records in the urban management
department, so that the food waste could be "traced".
The scheme reiterates that the municipal restaurant garbage collection,
transport and disposal costs will be covered by subsidies from the city,
district, county municipal finance.
The scheme requires that operators of guesthouses, hotels, restaurants,
fast food restaurants, snack bars and other food and beverage shops and
canteens should report to the relevant local government departments.
Food waste transportation and disposal enterprises should report the
records on the category , quantity, source, trace, utilization, etc.,
the purpose is that the catering garbage disposing enterprises should
report to the district, county-level city urban management departments
and the environmental protection department.
The scheme clearly points out, the canteens of administrative offices
and enterprises, institutions, schools, hospitals not in accordance with
the provisions, will be faced with administrative penalties, what's
more, the person in charge will be blamed.
