Offshore Wind Power Development Began To Speed Up In China

On December 28th last year, China's largest offshore wind farm -- state power Longyuan Jiangsu Rudong offshore wind farm was completed.

The wind farm's installed capacity is of 131.3 megawatts. According to the current production capacity, the in-grid wind farm electricity is about 330 million kwh, the annual savings of 97000 tons of standard coal, 266000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, 940000 tons of water. The construction of offshore wind power goes step by step.

Today, the national energy bureau already started the second batch of offshore wind power exclusive projects tendering preparation in the second half of 2011, which is is expected to complete by the first half of 2012.

According to the" Twelfth Five-Year Plan" renewable energy planning, in 2015 China offshore wind power installed capacity is to be of 5 million kilowatts, and to 2020 the offshore wind power installed capacity is to reach 30 million kilowatts.

It is expected by the industry insiders that the "12th five year" planning for offshore wind power installed capacity of 5000000 kilowatts will bring 80 billioin yuan of offshore wind power benefit, in 5 years into the future, the offshore wind power in China will enter the period of accelerated development.
