Boeing and the Commercial Aircraft Corporation Of China Set Up Aviation Energy Saving Technology Center in Beijing Focusing on Aviation Fuel

On the one hand, China and the United States join forces to resist the European Union to levy carbon tax, on the other hand, the two sides are to develop the field of energy conservation through a variety of ways.

Yesterday, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), which implemented the China-made large aircraft project of the main Chinese commercial aircraft, announced the signing of a cooperation agreement with Boeing, the two sides will build up a technology center of Boeing - China Commercial Aircraft air energy saving in Beijing. This is the first time that Boeing signed a cooperation agreement in 40 years after its entry to China signed a commercial flight.

The agreement showed that Boeing and Commercial Aircraft will expand the cooperation with Chinese universities and institutes in many fields including sustainable aviation biofuels, aviation, communications infrastructure and other areas, finally, the two sides would decide to fund the selected research projects jointly. These projects could improve the energy efficiency of civil aviation or reduce the carbon emissions of the industry. The two aircraft manufacturers also agreed on an annual high-level meeting on civil aviation market forecast exchange and communications.

In October last year, the first successful sustainable aviation bio-fuel test flight was launched in China, which was completed by the joint work of Air China, China National Petroleum, Boeing and Honeywell, which was seen as a starting point for large-scale commercial biofuels. However, high cost and lack of industrialization level still restrict the speed of biofuels research and development.

The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC) is a state-owned company, which is formed with the approval of the State Council and jointly invested by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council, Shanghai Guosheng (Group) Co., Ltd., Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), China Aluminum Corporation (CHINALCO), Baosteel Group, and Sinochem Group. With a registered capital of RMB 19 billion.COMAC was held on May 11th, 2008.COMAC is headquartered in Shanghai.
